The BSA Congress (or Nordic Small Animal Veterinary Conference) is arranged by the Blue Star Academy – an educational initiative sprung from The Blue Star Animal Hospital in Gothenburg. The academy organizes education for veterinarians, animal keepers and veterinary assistants and invites lecturers from all over the world to different activities.

The next Nordic Small Animal Veterinary Conference will be the fifth. As said, the theme is oncology and the lecturers will come from Sweden, Norway, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium. Among them Henrik Rönnberg, a professor at the University Animal Hospital in Uppsala and an important member of the research team behind Alertix.

Obviously, Henrik will describe the research behind Alertix, but he will also talk about new cancer therapies such as immunotherapy.

– The most common methods to treat cancer in animals is, still, surgery and chemotherapy. However, chemo is used in new ways and there is ongoing research on combining chemotherapy with new methods like immunotherapy. In short, it is about trying to get the body's own immune system to attack the cancer cells, says Henrik Rönnberg to Veterinärmagazinet.
