Besides of the money-based award, Alertix will also be a participant in the national innovation award in November at Älvsjö, Sweden, when the Swedish master of innovation will be announced.

Animals are close to my heart, especially animals who suffer. It is fantastic if this rapid-test can prevent a pet from suffering. I am very proud of this innovation from Kalmar, said Thomas Carlzon, governor of Kalmar county, today at the ceremony at the residence.

The CEO of Alertix, Bengt Åstrand and the CSO Staffan Eriksson received the award at a lunch ceremony at the governor’s residence in Kalmar, Sweden.

It is immensely exciting to lead a research intense company like Alertix. And truly fantastic to win an innovation award in Sweden, ranked as one of the most innovative countries in the world, year after year, says Alertix’ CEO Bengt Åstrand.

After many years of research, it is so cool being recognized with the innovation award, now being on our way to the market with the first product, says CSO Staffan Eriksson.

Alertix Veterinary Diagnostics AB was founded in 2017 by Bengt Åstrand, Staffan Eriksson and Anne-Charlotte Aronsson for the developing and marketing of an assay for early detection and monitoring of cancer diseases in pets. Alertix has patents pending world-wide for the technology of detecting the amount of thymidine kinase 1 in blood, a tumor biomarker.

Alertix is an incubator company at the Kalmar Science Park.

SKAPA is a Swedish foundation, awarding the national yearly innovation prize to the memory of Alfred Nobel.
